Brian Rossall, an accomplished chemist and business adviser, is a senior consultant to ChinaWhys and its clients on questions of supply chain management, integrity and business ethics, and is our adviser on the chemical and home and personal care product industries.

A highly seasoned sourcing expert with global experience of blue chip FMCG supply chains, Brian has special expertise in sourcing from Asia and China. Before acting as a private consultant, he spent 32 years in R&D, supply chain and sourcing positions with Unilever, and in his final appointment he served as Unilever's Chief Buyer in China for five years.

Consequently, Brian commands a wealth of knowledge of the chemicals industry and of sourcing raw materials for Home & Personal Care products. In addition, he has a proven track record in establishing organisational sourcing capability.

During three decades in supply chain management, Brian has developed an intimate acute knowledge of supply chain risks and integrity issues. He believes that supplier integrity is crucial for a successful business and he has developed a wealth of experience in audit and integrity process for checking suppliers to satisfy business ethics and other compliance requirements.

Brian is an experienced manager and trainer of professional buyers in China & Asia. He has designed and executed training programmes to deliver skills in supplier selection, buying strategy, negotiations and performance measurement. In carrying out this work Brian has an acute sense of buyer integrity issues. He has also managed buyer and supplier investigations in the region.

Brian obtained his BSc in chemistry with First Class Honours at Nottingham University in England and later earned his PhD from the same venerable institution. He is also an enthusiastic gardener, hiker and gastronome.
